Diversity at IE² and the University of Oregon

The Institute of Ecology and Evolution and the University of Oregon are committed to recruiting and supporting diverse students, including students with disabilities, first-generation scholars, and individuals from underrepresented groups in science. We foster an inclusive environment that empowers all students to excel while broadening their perspectives and experiences. A number of campus resources are available to help achieve these goals.

  • GrEBES: an ASUO-recognized student organization afflicted with the Institute of Ecology and Evolution (IE2) at University of Oregon. This is our IE2 Graduate Student Organization
  • CMiS: A community for Minorities in STEM.
  • UO Diversity Resources: Financial aid, academic, and student life resources for prospective and current students and families.
  • SACNAS @ UO: The UO chapter of the Society for the Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science.
  • Graduate Student Association: The GSA is a group for all graduate students on campus to connect, share information, and work for the betterment of the graduate experience.
  • IMPACT: Peer-to-peer mentoring program for first-generation and underrepresented students.
  • LGBTQA Alliance: Creates opportunities for LGBTQ+ students to celebrate and affirm their identities.
  • Multicultural Center: A hub in the EMU for student-led education and community-building around diversity.
  • Native American Student Union: Supports Indigenous students in maintaining cultural values while pursuing education.
  • Neurodiversity Alliance: A group run by and for neurodiverse students at the UofO, hosting workshops and events to help students navigate and advocate their university careers.
  • Creating Connections: Social and community-building gatherings for underrepresented graduate student groups.
  • Queer, Trans & Intersex Students of Color (QTISOC): Builds community for Queer, Trans, and Intersex students of color.
  • UO Women’s Center: Creates a safe and affirming environment for people of all genders.
  • Women in Graduate Science: Supports women in interdisciplinary sciences through mentorship and professional development.
