Community
Through seminars, workshops, field courses, and journal clubs, the Institute of Ecology and Evolution fosters a collaborative, curiosity-driven community where faculty and students connect across diverse research areas. IE² faculty and students frequently coauthor publications and share grants, reflecting the deeply interdisciplinary nature of our work.
Unlike institutes housed within a single laboratory complex, IE²’s community spans Onyx Bridge, Pacific Hall, other campus science buildings, and field sites around the world. This broad footprint creates strong connections across the Departments of Biology, Computer Science, Data Science, Geography, Geology, and Environmental Studies, as well as the Institutes of Molecular Biology, Neuroscience, and Marine Biology. Together, IE² builds a vibrant, inclusive environment where collaboration and discovery thrive at every scale — from molecules to ecosystems.
